California Fraud Under Newsom Looks Like Industrialized Theft

A Fox News report says California may have lost at least $180 billion to fraud under Gavin Newsom, with taxpayers left funding the racket.

A new Fox News piece says California may have lost at least $180 billion to fraud under Gavin Newsom, maybe as much as $280 billion depending on whose estimate you use, with the alleged rot spread across Medi-Cal, unemployment, welfare, and a sprawling in-home care system that one reporter says now functions like a “shadow welfare system.”

And honestly, this is the kind of shit that drives normal people insane.

Not because fraud is shocking. It is not. Everybody already knows the scam is baked in. We know the politically connected skim. We know the bureaucracy looks the other way until the headline gets too loud. We know “oversight” usually means three press releases, a task force logo, and six people in fleece vests promising accountability sometime after the next election. The surprise is never that it happened. The surprise is always the scale. One hundred eighty billion dollars is not a bookkeeping oopsie. That is industrialized theft with a state logo on the paperwork.

And look at the mechanism. Government builds giant, sentiment-soaked programs in the name of compassion. Verification gets soft because asking questions is mean. Administrators brag about access, inclusion, and care. Then the money starts flying out the door to ghosts, hustlers, middlemen, fake providers, and every parasite within smelling distance of public cash. By the time somebody notices, the grift has become an ecosystem with lobbyists, contractors, consultants, and public officials all feeding at different levels of the carcass.

Then comes the part we all know by heart. Investigations. Hearings. Strongly worded letters. Maybe a few prosecutions, just enough to create the impression that somebody, somewhere, gives a damn. Meanwhile the public gets the bill, the fraud artists keep most of the winnings, and the people who presided over the mess are somehow still on television lecturing the rest of us about fairness and sacrifice.

That is what makes this feel so corrosive. The people paying taxes, working lousy jobs, filling the tank on fumes, and trying not to drown in rent are expected to fund the whole racket and then clap for the moral beauty of the program. Everybody in the grift pipeline gets richer, or at least better employed. The normies get inflation, higher taxes, worse services, and the pleasure of being told that skepticism is cruelty.

This is not just waste. It is contempt. A system that cannot protect public money is a system that does not respect the people who earned it.
